"classical wisdom, modern inspirations"
Application of numerals in feng shui on different platform means different things, but one thing for sure, it is not about pronunciation! It does not mean that numeric 4 means death. 3, 6 and 8 is good luck. If feng shui is to stood so low just about tone syllable then that is not authentic feng shui principles.
Numbers when use in the calculation of Chinese strokes for auspicious name 1,2 are wood, 3,4 are fire, 5,6 are earth, 7,8 are metal and 9,0 are water. The odd number is “yang” element and even number is “ying” element. The number of stroke calculation for a feng shui name is use to supplement a person’s five elements imbalance or avoid certain elements. The 10 numbers in Chinese auspicious Names Selection are 10 Heavenly Stem in Bazi study which are 甲jia wood 1乙yi wood 2 丙bing fire 3 丁ding fire 4 戊wu earth 5 己ji earth 6 庚geng metal 7 辛xin metal 8 壬ren water 9 癸gui water 10.
Level or storeys you stayed is insignificant in feng shui home or office
If numbers are use in 河圖洛書 Luo Shu from Zhou Yi for feng shui calculation of home or office then the numbers representations take on a totally new meaning. From picture you can see the numerals comes from what looks like the abdomen of a “tortoise”. These numbers calculate the five elements i.e. wood, fire, earth, metal and water of different floor levels. Each floor level represent one of the five elements. Majority of the feng shui masters in Singapore will then choose the floor level “element” to match with your destined Gua Number 卦命 OR Bazi 八字 favourable elements. The configurations are:
1,6 storey or floor level is water; so floor level 11, 16, 21, 26 etc fall inside this category
2,7 storey or floor level is fire; so floor level 12, 17, 22, 27 and so forth are fire element floors/storey
3,8 storey or floor level is wood
4,9 storey or floor level is metal
5,0 storey or floor level is earth
If we do not put an individual’s bazi or gua number into the equation, base on the current 8th period of the flying star feng shui theory then staying on floor levels 4,9, 5,0 are lucky base Earth generates Metal and Earth/Earth are equal.
These are written in the Chinese feng shui classics but through the years i realised all these matching on floor level are impractical and insignificant. One of the main reason is that today it is impossible to tell which floor you are staying in? Should you consider the ground floor? How about the basement car park? Do you add or subtract the levels of basement car park to derive which floor you stay in?
Number 4 does not means death, 8 does not represent prosperity
Due to the mandarin and cantonese pronunciation of the number 4 四 (si) sounds like death 死 (si) number 4 seems to be enjoying a very bad limelight, all based on misunderstanding of a cultural interpretation.
Mobile phone numbers and Car plate numbers in feng shui are irrelevant
Some people advised by their feng shui master pay an obscene amount of money for mobile phone numbers or car plate numbers such as 8888 or 3838; this again as no bearing or influence to an individual’s luck.
There are some who practices using numbers in NRIC and Birth cert to calculate destiny of a person which is also bull crap.
洛书紫白九星 Numbers in San Yuan feng shui flying star theory

While it is important to pay attention to minor details when improving the feng shui of your home, it is equally important to stay calm and reasonable when dealing with highly misunderstood feng shui concepts such as feng shui of house unit numbers or block numbers. To believe that these house numbers can create problems resulting in sickness, disaster or death is just not intelligent.
Numerology A separate study from Feng Shui
For example, if your house number is 14, which adds up to single digit 5 and tendencies of this number is change, resourcefulness and adventure.
These are the generalisation of numbers and the energy it represents:
• 0 – nothingness, potential, empty

Numbers in conclusion base on feng shui calculation
Unlike common belief that your home address unit number, mobile number, car plate number, bank account number etc are associated with auspicious energies becasue of 1, 6 or 8 where the chinese love it alot and pay thousand of dollars just to get these numbers. One can conclude these so call lucky “energies” from numerals are really minor in comparison to the entire Universe. The energy of numbers if there is, is so minor compare with for example in home feng shui your main door location? your stove position in feng shui home? lucky colour that you wear to suit your bazi? auspicious time to renovate, to shift in ? auspicious months?
Is NUMBER 8 necessary means lucky? or 4 means death?
The number 8 is highly regarded by Chinese as a particularly lucky number. We are currently in the 8th period of the feng shui flying star 2004-2023. Hence if your home water flying star lands on your door entrance, congratulations to you; this is consider to be extremely lucky!
Or if your main door is located at the North-East sector then your home feng shui generally is considered to be lucky because 8 in Gua number is 艮卦 (Gen) 正神方 the most auspicious sector in the 8th period. In the 9th period, Main door located in the South Sector is consider the best and so forth.
Hence do not believe that “8” as a number by itself will impart any auspicious energies or special cosmic strength for you if not associated with something. Some feng shui masters in order to entice you to buy their feng shui products will tempt you to say the figurine “8” is auspicious because it represents infinity or whatever the sales pitch. Some even dramatise to say the word eight 八 in chinese pinyin is ba, sounds like prosperity or wealth fa 发; So what happen you are a french guy? or not an Asian nationality means that 8 is not lucky for you? LOL this is really appalling. Wise readers do beware.
Nevertheless Number “8” is associated with 2 elements in feng shui, one is wood because 3,8 combo is wood element. “8” standalone is “earth” element when apply in feng shui audit. Some hearsay quoted that China Olympics schedule opening ceremony to be on the 8th August 2008 because of the “8” is lucky so is 08/08/2008. OMG. In feng shui date selection choosing a strong “day master” is one of the prerequisite of ensuring events to be smooth. Take a look at the Lunar Calendar for 08 August 2008 and you will notice that Day Master is as follow:
2008 August 08
Year Month Day
戊 庚 庚
子 申 辰
Just to simplify matters by using a simple model base on Bazi theory to understand why China Feng Shui Master choose this date. In Bazi Ming Li classic 八字命理典籍(五言独步) 云 this date 08 August, Day Master is Geng Metal born in Shen Metal month, quoted 庚生申月为建禄格 Geng Metal born in Shen Metal is consider to be “wealthy and strong”. Although i am simplifying the teachings over here but this is definitely one of the feng shui methods that the great feng shui masters in China have chosen this date and not because of this fallicious reasoning of number “8” appearing on date 08082008! i have not even gone into deep analysis of other methods such as 天元烏兔太阳, 玄空择日, 七政四余择日法, 紫白法 in selecting this auspicious date for such an important event to demonstrate China as a World Class player in the Global market. One thing for sure it is definitely not because of numeral 8 convenience and sounded auspicious. LOL.
Feng shui discipline originates from China, how is it possible that these great grand masters of feng shui choose a date base on nice numbers? why not choose 18082008 or 28082008 also very nice?
